Parish Council

Fr Simon and Rev. Jeff work in open partnership with the people of the parish through the forum of the Parish Council. The group comprises representatives from a variety of different areas of the parish community. The group meets on a bi-monthly basis to discuss and plan all aspects of parish life. We are a forward looking parish and are keen to encourage parishioners to actively participate in the running of their community at all levels.

An Invitation to Join the Parish Council
The regular members of the Parish Council have now served for a number of years. We need new members to give a fresh perspective and share in the responsibility for what we do.

We usually meet 6 times a year in the Presbytery. The meetings last a maximum of a two hours. This not a great time commitment.

We discuss what is happening in the Parish and consider what else we might or should be doing in our parish and how we might plan to move towards what we, as a parish, want to achieve. We work in partnership with Fr Simon who uses us as a sounding board for his ideas and from whom we receive encouragement and leadership. Parish councillors, do not become directly involved in any extra tasks arising from the discussions.

We feel sure that there are many able parishioners who could afford the time to share in these discussions and who have a great deal to offer.

One thing that came out of the recent Parish Meeting was a clear need for a more even sharing of the Parish work. We are rightly proud of our vibrant parish and of the large number of individual parishioners who give up their time for the many different types of work involved in the running of the parish community. We should not take this for granted. Individuals come and go but the work must go on. We need to continually renew our commitment. Listen carefully to the words of our parish prayer today and ask yourself if God is calling you to this work.

Contact Fr Simon or Jeff or any of the Parish Councillors if you want to help or to know more.
